Mission:
Sustainable Community Support Network will offer support to those individuals
and communities who are seeking to live in a sustainable manner in relation
to their fellow human beings (right relationship, right livelihood) and the
earth (responsible stewardship).
Definition:
Sustainable: activities that are life enhancing, that can be carried on indefinitely
into the future because they operate in harmony with natural and spiritual law.
Community: the collaboration of two or more individuals for a sustainable purpose.
Background:
Those who are most inclined to live in a sustainable manner are often disenfranchised
and isolated from others of like mind. While there are many benefits and freedoms
to being a US citizen, our economy and culture has the effect of fragmenting
individuals and families from the larger community of Purpose.
Potential roles:
1. Screening and placing individuals wanting to find community.
2. Raising awareness and funds for sustainable communities.
3. Facilitating collaboration between individuals and communities.
4. Initiating and participating in efforts (ie networking, grants and fund raising)
to help individuals find sustainable living situations, including affordable
housing in harmony with the environment and right livelihood.
